“Runner-friendly” policies

We are runners ourselves and strive to offer one of the most “runner-friendly” refund and cancellation policies out there. Our guiding goal is to get as much money back to you as possible.

To request a refund or deferral, please email us.

Refunds

It’s simple and we’re proud of it: We’ll issue runners a 100% refund, less UltraSignup’s refund fee, upon email request. (Email helps us keep track of everything.)

Within one month of race day, however, we stop offering refunds. At that point, we’ve already made the overwhelming majority of race-related expenditures, virtually none of which are refundable to us.

Deferrals

In lieu of a refund, you may defer your entry to the following year. You may only defer an entry for one year — specifically, to the following year. If you defer, you will be responsible for covering any price differences and re-registration fees. As with refunds, we stop honoring deferral requests within one month of race day.

Out or respect for the race, we ask that you only request a deferral for a valid reason. We want to avoid, frankly, folks requesting a deferral simply because they’re ill-prepared and want to bypass our lottery in the following year. Here are a few valid examples:

  • Pregnancy or recent birth

  • Deployment (military, wildfire, etc.)

  • Serious injury

  • Serious family illness

Cancellations

While we do just about everything in our power to keep events scheduled as planned, we have to acknowledge that, occasionally, things happen beyond our control. Wildfires are real. Therefore, in the event of a race cancellation, we offer the following options to our runners:

  • Up until one month before race day: Rollover to the following year

  • Within one month of race day: Pro-rata share of all refundable expenses at the time of cancellation. Let’s say, for example, we have 100 runners in the race, and we cancelled the race before buying food, which would have cost $4,500. In this case, each runner would receive a $45 refund. It’s worth setting expectations, though, with respect to refundable expenses. About 75% of race expenses are billed months before the race and are non-refundable to us

Transfers

Registrations are non-transferable.
