South to north, slightly downhill

Our point-to-point course runs south to north and has a slight “downhill” profile. Runners will climb approximately 24,000’ over the 105-mile course.

Highs and lows

The high point of the race, 11,378’, comes atop Wyoming Peak — relatively early in the race, around mile 6. The lowest point at 6,323’. The course has an average elevation of nearly 8,550’.

Big chunks

Most of the race’s gain and loss comes in chunks. The first climb of the race is 2,400’, and it’s followed by a 3,700’ descent and 3,000’ ascent. You’ll descend 4,000’ from the top of Deadman Mountain to Greys River. You’ll then climb back up 3,000’ from Grizzly Basin to White Creek pass.

With the exceptions of Blind Bull and Wyoming Peak, our aid stations are situated below a climb, so stock up and recharge before you head out.

Section elevation profiles

You can view an elevation profile for every course section on our course description page.

Green aid stations are accessible to crews, orange aid stations are crew only (meaning there’s no “official” aid station), and red aid stations are closed to crews.

An interactive course map, from which you can generate your own elevation profile, is on the course map page.
