Camping

Start

There is plenty of dispersed camping available at the start at Middle Piney Lake. There are also a few “real” campsites, with picnic tables and fire rings, at Middle Piney Lake for folks who arrive early.

Finish

You cannot tent camp at the finish at Box Y Ranch. You can, however, car camp at the finish. You’re also welcome to grab one of the many dispersed camping sites in the national forest around the Box Y.

Lodging

Start

Big Piney, WY and Marbleton, WY (45-60 minutes from the start)

We encourage you to stay in and explore Big Piney and Marbleton before the race. You can learn more about these communities here. The Marbleton Inn and the Country Chalet Inn are fantastic options.

There are also homes and apartments available through Airbnb, HomeAway, etc.

Pinedale, WY (60-90 minutes from the start)

Pinedale has plenty of hotels, motels, and rental homes at various price points. There’s also a grocery store, outdoor store, and a few gas stations.

Finish

Alpine, WY (90-120 minutes from the finish)

Alpine has several hotels and RV options. It’s also the closest place for food, gas and cell service on the western and northern ends of the course.

RVing

There are RV resorts with full hook-ups in Big Piney, Pinedale, and Alpine. Irrespective of location, make reservations early. These towns are popular RV destinations.

You are also welcome to park your RV, off grid, in the national forest. McDougal Gap is a great location that’s relatively close to the start and finish. (This is where your RD and his family set up shop.)

You cannot park an RV at the start nor the finish!

Flying to the race
